About AWS Step Functions

AWS Step Functions is a low-code, visual workflow solution that allows developers to utilise AWS services, construct distributed apps, automate business & IT processes, and build data and machine learning pipelines. Workflows handle errors, parallelization, retries, observability, and service integrations, allowing developers to concentrate on higher-value business logic. With AWS Step Functions, developers can express complex business logic as low-code as well as event-driven workflows that connect systems or services. With this, users can compose AWS resources from over 200 services including SQS, DynamoDB, SageMaker, Lambda, and EventBridge. AWS Step Functions handles state, checkpoints, and restarts for users, ensuring that their processes run in the proper sequence. Moreover, AWS Step Functions offer two workflow types- Standard or Express. Long-running workloads are managed using standard workflows. Express Workflows are in general designed to handle high-volume event processing demands. Using AWS Step Functions, users can define their workflows as state machines, which transform complex code into easy-to-understand statements and diagrams.
