Great Integrated Engineering Package
What do you like best about Ansys AIM?
ANSYS AIM integrates the geometry manipulation, meshing creation and FEA/CFD simulation into a modern software package. Also the integrated SpaceClaim geometry program is extremely easy to use.
What do you dislike about Ansys AIM?
Since ANSYS AIM is relatively new integration since several years ago (comparing to the traditional ANSYS Workbench interface), there are many improvements can be implemented.
Recommendations to others considering Ansys AIM?
Definitely try ANSYS AIM if you are a traditional ANSYS Workbench user, the new interface is much better, and the integrated SpaceClaim geometry program is amazing.
What problems is Ansys AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?
ANSYS AIM helps me quickly setup and run FEA simulations, once we get familiar with the interface, it is easier to use than ANSYS Workbench.

Best and most popular software for Finite Element Analysis
What do you like best about Ansys AIM?
User-friendly interface, which allows users to easily navigate through mesh, initial/boundary conditions and solver.
What do you dislike about Ansys AIM?
The price is high, which limits a lot of students to buy and use in the personal computer.
What problems is Ansys AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use ANSYS AIM to solve multi-physics problems, which include mechanical and heat transfer phenomena. It simulates properly what we observed from experiments.

Wow, this is going to be the next big one
What do you like best about Ansys AIM?
ANSYS has packaged in the AIM some of its basic and robust capabilities, in a streamlined logical workflow GUI, slick with consistent details. AIM initially includes linear structural, thermal and electric conduction FEA, and CFD - with the ability to create certain interaction between those simulations, all under one GUI with consistent dialog boxes. Sweet. But the best is yet to come as mature ANSYS capabilities are migrated to AIM like nonlinear structural or topology optimization, and as new capacities are attain by ANSYS like true polyhedral CFD mesh in place of the current one made by aggregating lower order elements.

Recommendations to others considering Ansys AIM?
Another good think is the integration of ANSYS SpaceClaim parametric direct modeling 3D CAD. This tool is already quite good for creating geometry, modifying/de-featuring/repairing/healing for simulation. It also has unique capabilities of working with STL geometry either directly or in hybrid STL-solid approach. There is no known limit to the number of faces in STL file imported to SpaceClaim. There are mesh repair capabilities. That already makes happy the AIM users who need to work on STL files 3D print. But wait - there is more coming: SpaceClaim will have the capability of converting STL regions to CAD surfaces.

Seamless Feedback system and Efficient Workflow Automation
What do you like best about Ansys AIM?
First thing that step by step workflow simulation support and CAD integration we can directly import 3D modules with good graphics and also the automation templates using that we can repeat our tasks without re-setup. Feedback system also good it will alerts user from common mistakes. Customer support also good because Ansys used in industry.
What do you dislike about Ansys AIM?
I think not powerful as full Ansys suite some advanced structural tools like CFD are still needed. and also not suitable for very large simulations having limited scalability. Frequency of use for students not for professional engineers.
What problems is Ansys AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?
As I said it was a beginner friendly environment, Actually it should be difficult in multi physics part to integrate all physics solutions to one place. Mostly for automation physics selection and boundary selection was helped me because it will take more time to setup.
