Calling the Textract API is straightforward, and it has incredible accuracy. I initially needed a tool to extract data from invoices, which was proving tricky, but now AWS fully supports reading from invoices. Great for automating business processes!

The API response was a bit difficult to understand and digest at first. Some better documentation to explain this would be highly apprecaited. It can also be quite pricy if you are not careful.

Sometimes Amazon Textract is not able to identify data in desired format & as of now there is no mechanism to train this service to identify those data. This can be a bottleneck for some situation.

Amazon Textract is a powerful cloud based intelligent OCR tool for extracting text from scanned pdfs to handwriteen documents/Images. It uses a unique technique to extract data using machine learning from thousands of invoices, documents and templates present over the internet. This not only elimintates the need of additional hassle in customising stuff when using other OCR tools but also it improves the efficiency of the overall process by reducing time required for development and cost of the overall project.

Its implementation is some what easy but not that easy as Amazon claims, one has to perform multiple tweaks to get our desired outcome which is common with every other OCR softwares in the market like Abbyy etc. Artificial Intelligence will not work that effectively when using Textract on handwritten documents

We have earilier tried other softwares like Abbyy Flexicapture, tesseract and MODI before we finally made use of Textract in our projects. It was quite easy to configure Textract when compared to other tools where we need to create our own template and train the software to work on a document. Thes steps can be minimized when using Textract, However accuracy is not always 100% and your mileage will vary depending upon the type of document you are trying to process like a handwritten receipt or scanned invoice etc.

We can extract text from any pdf file from anywhere we like. This software which is cloud based can even read handwritten receipts which cuts cost of developing other software and saves time

Most of the times we have issues with it on handwritten receipts but other than that not minor complaints

Great solution but the handwritten receipts needs to be improved
